Don Roth is a professor of molecular biology.  With a B.S. from the University of New Hampshire and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Virginia Tech, Don has taught classes as a Professor of Molecular Biology, in Virology, Replication/Transcription/Translation, Developmental and Molecular Cell Biology and Cloning & Sequencing. He currently teaches the Foundations of Scholarship and Discovery.

His current research seeks to understand mechanisms regulating cellular responses to virus infection, especially related to control of protein synthesis. He has published over 50 referred journal articles, patents and book chapters and has mentored numerous masters and doctoral graduate students.   

From 2003- 2009 he was  Dean of the  Graduate  School at the  University of  Wyoming. Currently he is Associate Director of the School of Energy Resources and Director of the Biomedical Sciences Program as well as the director of  the Science Posse program. The program began with an NIH-sponsored program that had a biomedical focus and an NSF-funded program that encompassed all STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) areas. The Science Posse is currently supported by a second NSF grant which emphasizes energy and water quality. The Science Posse engages graduate students, teachers, students and communities to increase societal literacy in the sciences.
